Plot The episode is set in a near-future timeline and revolves around two women, Yorkie (Sarah Snook) and Becky (Kirsty Wark), living on the island of San Junipero. The island appears to be a utopian resort where the elderly go to live out their final days. The twist comes when viewers learn that San Junipero is actually a digital simulation, a kind of purgatory or digital afterlife where consciousness can be uploaded. The intention behind San Junipero is to offer a perfect existence for people to live their final days in a controlled, joyful environment.
