The Aviary is a tense, low-budget thriller that explores the terrifying aftermath of cult life. Rather than focusing on the sensationalist details of the cult itself, writer-directors Chris Cullari and Jennifer Raite deliver a psychological "two-hander" set almost entirely in the unforgiving New Mexico desert.
The film follows Jillian (Malin Akerman) and Blair (Lorenza Izzo) as they flee "Skylight," a cult compound led by the charismatic and manipulative Seth (Chris Messina).
