The stakes escalate when a massive environmental disaster—a shifting iceberg—traps the entire Emperor Penguin colony behind impassable ice walls. Mumble must unite diverse creatures, including the Adélie penguins, elephant seals, and even two existentialist krill, to save his community from starvation.

The film features a mix of returning and new high-profile voice actors: as Mumble. Robin Williams reprising his roles as Ramón and Lovelace. P!nk as Gloria (replacing the late Brittany Murphy). Hank Azaria as The Mighty Sven.
