Elias adjusted his glasses, staring at the dimly lit console. It was 05:02:46 AM, February 24, 2023, and the air in the sub-basement smelled of ozone and stale coffee. On his screen, a singular file sat, blinking mockingly: 1677162166.7z.001 . He wasn’t supposed to have it.

His fingers flew across the keyboard, executing the first extraction command. The machine whined, a low-frequency hum that vibrated through the floorboards. Progress: 14%

Elias cursed softly. Without the next two parts, he couldn't rebuild the data. It was like having the prologue to a book written in an unknown language. Progress: 88%

It was a fragmented data archive, one of thousands supposedly wiped during the digital purging of the old server rooms. But Elias hadn’t trusted the wipe. He had spent months mapping the corrupt sectors, looking for what was left behind.
